Weeds will not do anything good if you see them growing on your lawn, which is why they should be actively controlled throughout the year. That's where we can help. Our crew at Agape Lawn Company offers a weed control service that comes with specific treatment schedules for cool-season and warm-season lawns. We use pre- and post-emergent weed control treatments no matter your grass type to target weeds at both ends of their life cycle, plus administer lawn fertilizer treatments to provide essential nutrients. Some of the common weeds that our treatments target include dandelions, chickweed, henbit, spurge, and more! We offer our weed control service to residential properties in Cary, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and nearby areas in North Carolina.

Weed Control Treatment Schedule for Cool-Season Lawns

When you sign up for our weed control service, you can expect our professionals to visit your property regularly throughout the year. We follow a specific weed control treatment schedule for cool-season lawns, which also includes lawn fertilizer treatments. Our weed control treatment schedule for cool-season lawns is as follows:

  • January 1st to February 15th: The first step of this program is a post-emergent broadleaf weed control treatment and a lawn fertilizer application.
  • February 15th to March 31st: We'll apply pre- and post-emergent weed control treatments and another round of lawn fertilizer.
  • April 1st to May 15th: Another round of pre- and post-emergent weed control will be administered to prevent new weeds from emerging and eliminate existing ones. We'll also apply a fertilizer treatment and dose of micronutrients to help bolster its health.
  • May 15th to June 31st: Before summer peaks, we'll give your lawn a post-emergent broadleaf weed control and sedge control treatment as needed. It will also receive fertilizer and a nutrient uptake inhibitor to improve its nutrient absorption.
  • July 1st to August 31st: During this visit, your lawn will receive another post-emergent treatment if there are weeds, micronutrients, and a soil penetrant.
  • September 1st to November 15th: A fertilizer treatment will be administered in the fall.
  • November 15th to December 31st: Your lawn will receive a winter fertilizer treatment to provide it with enough nutrients to survive dormancy.

Weed Control Treatment Schedule for Warm-Season Lawns

Warm-season lawns grow in the area as well. If you have this grass type on your property, you can be confident that we are following a treatment schedule designed to meet your lawn's needs. Below is the schedule we follow for treating weeds in warm-season lawns, which also comes with fertilization:

  • January 1st to February 15th: We start the year with a post-emergent weed control application.
  • February 15th to March 31st: The next step involves a pre- and post-emergent weed control treatment to target weeds before and after they emerge on your turf.
  • April 1st to May 15th: We'll apply the first round of fertilizer, as well as another application of pre- and post-emergent weed control.
  • May 15th to June 31st: Post-emergent weed control, fertilizer, and micronutrient treatments will be applied at this time to boost your lawn's health and ensure it stays weed-free as it enters summer.
  • July 1st to August 31st: Post-emergent weed control, fertilization, and a dose of micronutrients are included in this step.
  • September 1st to November 15th: Your lawn will receive pre- and post-emergent weed control treatments for optimal weed protection.
  • November 15th to December 31st: One last round of post-emergent weed control treatment is applied to help with winter survival. If the soil pH is below 6.0, we'll do a lime treatment to balance it out.
We offer our weed control service independently or as part of our full-service maintenance program!

What weeds do our weed control treatments target?

The pre- and post-emergent weed control treatments that we use for this service are highly effective. We want to use high-quality products so you can expect the best results for your lawn. The weed control treatments that we will administer on your lawn can effectively target common weeds in the area, like dandelions, dallisgrass, crabgrass, poa annua, spurge, henbit, and chickweed.
